## What counts as a nonprofit grant?

A nonprofit grant is a funding award made to a nonprofit or 501(c)(3) organization by a foundation, a corporation, or a government body, for a stated programme or operating purpose rather than as a loan. Roughly 70% of our directory comprises of grants from private foundations, public foundations, corporations and charities. The remaining 30% of grants found are from local, state, and federal government funding sources.

That split matters to a nonprofit applicant because the federal share is the part already published free on Grants.gov. The rest, the community foundations, the corporate giving programmes, the county and municipal departments, is scattered across thousands of separate sites with no common deadline calendar. Aggregating it is what the subscription pays for, and the exact closing date and the date of the last check appear on every record here so you can plan around them.
